Melanie Perkins
Co-founder and CEO, Canva
Co-founded Canva in 2013 with Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams, and built it into the largest technology company to come out of Australia.
Canva began as Fusion Books, a school yearbook design tool Perkins ran from her mother's living room in Perth while still at university. The idea underneath both products was the same: that design software was harder to use than it needed to be, and that the people who most needed it were the ones least likely to learn it.
She remains chief executive. Canva is one of the few Australian technology companies to reach global scale without relocating its centre of gravity offshore.
