Abi began as a project Brown built for herself during Melbourne's lockdowns, before she and co-founder Yan Chen saw that the same idea might do real work in care settings. The robot is designed to sit alongside staff rather than replace them, taking on the part of the job that is company rather than clinical.
Andromeda has deployed Abi across care homes in Melbourne and has since expanded to the United States. Published funding figures vary between outlets and rounds, so none is quoted here.
